At first glance this combo seems a little odd. But we really enjoyed it. The cinnamon really enhances the chocolate flavor and the oatmeal cookie-like topping is great! We shared it at a family get together and it got the thumbs up from everyone.
Make your brownie mix as directed on the box and add 1 tablespoon of cinnamon then pour into a greased 9×13 pan.
Cinnamon Crisp Topping
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup butter
In a medium bowl combine oats, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon. Cut butter in until it looks like coarse crumbs. Sprinkle on top of brownie batter.
Bake according to brownie package directions. I had to bake mine about 5 minutes longer.
Let cool completely in pan and then cut into squares.
